Ayahuasca Retreat in Iquitos: Frequently Asked Questions

Looking for an ayahuasca retreat in Iquitos? Rebirth Healing Center is a small jungle center in Santa María del Ojeal, near Iquitos, Peru. We offer indigenous ayahuasca ceremonies with indigenous shamans, optional master plant dietas, and intimate groups of up to six guests. Below are the questions people ask most before they book.

Where is Rebirth Healing Center?

We are in Santa María del Ojeal, in the Amazon near Iquitos, Peru. On the morning of day 1, we meet the group at a central hotel lobby in Iquitos (we share the exact location after you book) and travel together to the center, finishing by boat up Sinchicuy Creek. Please plan to arrive in Iquitos the day before your retreat starts.

What kind of ayahuasca ceremonies do you offer?

We hold indigenous ayahuasca ceremonies with indigenous shamans in a carefully held space with trauma awareness. Groups stay small so each person can be seen and supported.

How many people are in a group?

We keep groups to a maximum of six guests so care stays personal and the container feels safe.

What does a week-long retreat include?

Our week-long ayahuasca retreat is $875 and includes three ayahuasca ceremonies and one jungle excursion (weather permitting — for example a 90-minute hike to the giant lupuna tree, the largest in the area and said to be home of Chuyachaki, the protector spirit of the jungle, or a visit to local communities along the river; some areas can’t be reached when the water is too high). It does not include a plant dieta. We also offer a 10-day retreat with four ayahuasca ceremonies and two jungle excursions for $1000, alongside the week-long retreat.

How are master plant dietas arranged?

Master plant dietas are available after consultation. They exclude tobacco and toé; we discuss your intention, timing, and appropriate plant with you and the facilitators. Dietas can last from one week up to several months depending on what you and the facilitators decide together.

Who is this retreat for?

People seeking deep healing, clarity, and reconnection in the jungle. Many guests arrive carrying trauma or old patterns and want to process them in a healthy way, with trauma awareness, so they can feel more whole again. We are not a medical facility; if you have serious health or psychiatric conditions, talk with us and your doctor before applying.

Are ceremonies safe?

Safety is our priority: small groups, experienced indigenous shamans, attentive staff, and clear preparation guidance. We screen guests and ask you to follow dieta and medication guidelines before and during your stay.

How do I prepare for an ayahuasca retreat in Iquitos?

We send preparation guidance after you inquire or book (food, substances, and medications to avoid; mindset; travel tips). Starting that prep early makes the work smoother.

How do I get to Santa María del Ojeal from Iquitos?

Plan to arrive in Iquitos the day before your retreat starts. On the morning of day 1, we meet the group at a central hotel lobby in Iquitos (we share the exact location after you book) and travel together to the center, finishing by boat up Sinchicuy Creek. We coordinate logistics so you are not figuring it out alone.

Can I do only a plant dieta?

Master plant dietas are available after consultation and exclude tobacco and toé. Tell us your intention and timing and we will advise whether a dieta, a ceremony week, or a combined path fits best.

Is ayahuasca safe if I take medications like SSRIs?

Some medications, including SSRIs, are unsafe to combine with ayahuasca. That’s why every guest at Rebirth Healing Center must disclose all medications and supplements during safety screening before the retreat. Talk to your doctor before booking and follow their medical guidance. Never stop or change a medication on your own.

What is the difference between the 7-day and 10-day ayahuasca retreat?

The 7-day retreat costs $875 and includes 3 indigenous ayahuasca ceremonies with indigenous shamans and 1 jungle excursion. The 10-day retreat costs $1000 and includes 4 ceremonies and 2 jungle excursions. Kambo is available with either package as an optional $50 add-on. Both retreats are capped at 6 guests per group.

What is a master plant dieta?

A master plant dieta is a traditional Amazonian practice of working with a specific healing plant over a set period. At Rebirth Healing Center, master plant dietas last 10 days, are done in a private single room, and are offered after a consultation, so we can talk through whether one is right for you. Tobacco and toé are not offered as dietas.

What support is there for integration after the retreat?

Integration means making sense of your ceremony experiences and carrying what you learned into daily life. Before you leave Rebirth Healing Center, we hold a closing circle and an integration talk. After you get home, we schedule a follow-up call to check in on how you’re doing.
